We are compiling pictures to make a slide show for our reunion this summer. We want you to find and dust off all your old pictures from high school to be included. Any and all appropriate pictures relating to your senior year (i.e. dance group pictures, sporting events, hanging out at the school, etc.) are welcomed. Not only will this spur memories of those circled hallways, but it will also be good fodder for some classmate teasing. So, please, please send your pictures to our email: brightonhigh01 (at) gmail (dot) com with the subject titled “Slideshow Pictures” by March 1, 2011.

Bengal Bio: Lindsay Israelsen Wright

After graduating from Brighton, I attended Utah State University for a semester and ended up graduating at the U of U in Speech Communications in 2005. In 2003, I married Brody Wright. We met when I was a junior in high school and dated for a year before he left on his mission. Two years later he was back and we were married 6 months later! We live in Riverton, and have 15 month old twin girls, Ruby Jade and Lila Juliet. They are amazing little girls and we love them so very much!
I have a full-time photography business which I started almost 4 years ago. One day I decided that I wanted to make that my career and went for it. I feel extremely lucky to do something I love so much. I also work part-time for my dad doing all the events and seminars for his company, UNPA, in the dietary supplement industry and have been doing that for 8 years.
Although I have too many wonderful memories at Brighton to mention them all, some of my favorites would be my Senior Trip and Lake Powell trips.

Bengal Bio: Valerie Hart Nelson

We moved back to Utah about a year and a half ago and live in Bountiful. We just had another boy in August named Scott. He is a very sweet and sensitive baby, unlike his older brother James, and loves to cuddle. As far as what we do for a living, we sing opera! Yes, both of us - crazy no? We have sung in Utah, Ohio, Florida, Colorado, Chicago, San Fransisco, Virginia, New York, Mexico, and Italy. James has celebrated every one of his birthdays in a different state - it is kinda fun! When we are not performing, we teach. I teach in Park City at an after school music conservatory, and Tyler teaches at the University of Utah and Utah State University, where he is currently the Head of the Voice department. What I remember most about high school has to be Seminary Council, Madrigals, Chess (the musical), Basketball, Volleyball, and hanging out with friends. I hardly remember taking any classes, I mean I know I had to, but I don't remember them at all!

Bengal Bio: Tiffany Gordon Bautista

Jhonmar and I currently work for the State Developmental Center. He works the morning position, and I work the graveyard shift. That way we save on babysitting and I can be home with my kids. Its a great job. We work with people that have disabilities and are usually court ordered to be there until they can be put back into society. We have worked there for about three years.
We currently live in Pleasant Grove, UT and love it. We love the country feel, but also the fact that we still have some neighbors. In my free time, I love hanging out with my kids and husband, going to movies, or eating out at Red Lobster. I also love to make and decorate cakes for special occasions. My favorite memory of Brighton High is probably going to my first football game. I had so much fun hanging out with my friends.

After graduating from Brighton, I spent a year in Logan at Utah State then transferred to Brigham Young University in 2002. In 2003 I spent a semester studying in London, England and was able to travel around Europe and the UK which was awesome! I graduated in December of 2005 from BYU with a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science. I met my husband, Josh, through a mutual friend in '02 and after 4 years of dating we finally tied the knot in August of 2006. A week later we moved to Miami, Florida where I attended physician's assistant school at Barry University. I graduated with my master's degree in December 2008. In 2009 we moved from Florida to Kansas where I worked for a year in a family practice clinic. The highlight of '09 was the birth of our first child, Jackson who will be 2 in March. He is full of energy and we adore him! We currently live in Arizona and I work full time as a physician assistant in an urgent care clinic. My husband takes care of Jackson on the days I work, runs a business from home and is also in the process of applying to graduate school. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our second child, a girl, this coming May!

Bengal Bio: Missy Merkley Ames

Have ten years gone by already! After high school I received a bachelors degree in Art Education at Utah State and married Ben Ames from Missouri. I taught art in the public schools for 3 years while working on a Masters of Psychology and School Counseling. We then moved to Finland while my husband got his masters degree (he is half Finn). In Finland we had our first child, a lively little girl named Adelaide. Last summer we moved to Innsbruck, Austria while my husband gets his Ph.D in Quantum Physics. It's great to be back in the mountains again! I am currently an English teacher. I go to businesses and teach adults business related English. I also do a little freelance graphic design on the side. I still love to read and I have learned to cook since moving out to Europe. I'm learning German (slowly) and just adjusting to life across the pond.
As for high school memories, it's hard to choose, there are so many!
Jello Wrestling and other dances, Jeff Aird's pirate ship truck, Choir Tour, and Ms. McClure's crazy art classes, skipping seminary to go to breakfast, Ms. Lee's awesome humanities class and just being with friends.

Bengal Bio: Amanda Gomez Mefford

Amanda met her husband, Dean, her freshman year at BYU. He was the RA in the building next door. During the two week break for the 2002 Winter Olympics, they became engaged and were married just after her freshman year. They both graduated from BYU in April 2005, Amanda with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and her husband with a BS in Mathematics. After graduation, Dean accepted a position as an actuary at State Auto Insurance in Columbus, OH. They have two kids, Lucas (5) and Keira (2) that were both born there.
They just finished building a house in Fair Oaks Ranch (a NW suburb of San Antonio). It's in the Texas Hill Country, which is just gorgeous. Before moving to TX, Amanda was teaching piano and tutoring math, spanish, various sciences, and basically anything else your average high schooler or early college student needs. As soon as they are all move into their new home, she'll be starting up again.

After graduating from high school, Spencer went on a mission to Monterey Mexico. One year after his mission he married his high school sweetheart, Heather Northrup. They bought a home out in Lehi in 2006 and absolutely love it there. They have 2 kids with another one on the way (any day now). Spencer started on a bachelors degree in software engineering, but quickly realized the life of sitting at a computer all day was not the life for him. He still plays soccer a few times a week (even though he is feeling really old). He just opened his own business this past year. It is the Emissions Plus out in West Jordan. So, if anybody needs to get their car inspected go visit Spencer!

High School Sweethearts: Tim Cannon and Melanie Wood Cannon

In 2002, Tim joined the U.S. Army. After serving in German he was deployed to Baghdad, Iraq for 15 months. He separated from the Army in 2005 and has been living in Utah ever since. While in the Army, Tim recieved training as a Diesel Mechanic. He worked for FedEx as a mechanic since 2005, but has recently gone back to school for Computer Science and Video Game Development.
Tim enjoys playing Video Games, among other things, and is an avid Firearm enthusiast, Military history enthusiast, and is SLOWLY working on restoring his 1984 Ford F-250.
Due to a traumatic brain injury as a result of a roadside bomb, Tim's favorite memory from BHS (that he can remember) would have to be Bengal Vision his senior year.

Melanie married her high school sweetheart, Tim Cannon, in March of 2002. Melanie is a stay at home mommy to their two kids, Maggie-Elizabeth, 5, (a spitting image of her father) and James Thomas, 3, who they think might be from another world. She loves every minute of it. She said, "I really have no clue how I got here, all I know is I was crazy for this tall skinny kid, asked him to marry me, and he said yes." They also have a dog (who is really like their third child) "Frankfurt" and a very porky guinea pig "Squeeks". They live in Clearfield, UT, but will be moving back to the Salt Lake Valley in March of this year.
In her spare time, Melanie loves to write, read, play around with photography, and learn anything new. Both of them agree that getting married was the most memorable and significant thing that has happened to them since high school, along with the birth of their two children. Melanie also enjoyed living in Germany, and says giving birth in a German hospital is an experience she'll never forget!

Bengal Bio: Mary Cobb Rice

After graduating from Brighton, Mary attended the University of Utah, studying Mass Communication, Political Science, and Criminology. Mary knew after her high school internship at KUTV that she wanted a career in news. Her passion for current events and politics has served her well. Mary followed her dream, and has worked at the top radio and television stations in the Utah market for the past 8 years. She is currently the Assignment Manager at KTVX in Salt Lake City.
In September, 2005 Mary tied the knot with her high school sweetheart Kris Rice (class of ’99). Kris is an IT analyst for National Benefit Services. They currently live in West Jordan, Utah and are the proud parents of a darling French Bulldog named Abby. No human kids yet, but hopefully soon!
Mary’s favorite memories from high school are participating in plays, musicals, and
anything theater related. Winning the regional theater competition was amazing! Mary
also loved the theater trips to New York and San Francisco. She also loved serving as a
state officer for FBLA, and of course cheering on the football team (especially when Kris
was playing). The absolute top memory was meeting the man she would spend the rest of
her life with on the first day of her sophomore year. After nearly 13 years together, they
are still going strong!

After graduating at Brighton, I went to the University of Utah. While there, I served as an elected member of the Undergraduate Student Advisory Committee for the Computer Science Department, President of the Student International Game Developers Association (Utah Chapter), and Vice President of the Swing Kids Dance Club.
One day an amazing girl named Liz came to the swing dancing club, and I liked her dancing so much that I asked her out the very next day. We kept dating until after I graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science, and we wrote each other while I served a mission for the L.D.S. Church in Paris. We got married shortly after I got back, and we still act like newlyweds three years later. We now own a beautiful home in West Valley, and have a son who's almost two years old.
I have a great job programming web applications at Truenorthlogic in Sandy. In my spare time, I recently wrote a program to convert library eBooks to the Kindle format. I'm a scout leader and a Sunday School teacher, I drive a minivan, and I've largely given up video games in order to spend more quality time with my wife and son. My daily exercise regimen of Wii Fit Plus has helped me evade the fate predicted by Mr. Jacobs ("You'll be 300 pounds when you grow up: you have no self-control, and you eat like a Shetland Pony"). Liz and I enjoy reading books together and (of course) swing dancing whenever we can get a babysitter. All in all, life has only gotten better since high school!

They are active in their church and she has been in the Primary Presidency for the past 3 years. Things Heather likes to do these days are watch her kids do anything, vacation with family, read, sew, scrapbook, go to zumba, go out on dates with Joseph, and make goodies.
