In Memorium: Ashley Nicole Bartos

Ashley Nicole Bartos
01/11/1983 – 03/02/2006

Ashley Nicole Bartos 1983 ~ 2006 "I wanted to live - I wanted to dance at my wedding to my loving fianc‚ Cody and plan a life together, but cancer cut those dreams short. After three and a half years of pain and almost two years of treatments, my body finally wore out no matter how strong my spirit."

Ashley Nicole Bartos, 23, of Sandy left us on March 2, 2006. She was born in Boca Raton, Florida on January 11, 1983 to Derald and Linda Bartos and moved to Utah when she was two. She was full of joy and danced and sang through her short life. Her quirky sense of humor brought laughter to many and we're sure she's teaching her famous "Spastic Dance" to the angels. She graduated from Brighton High School in 2001 and was attending SLCC when she became ill.

Ashley loved fashion and never met a pair of shoes or a lip gloss she didn't like. She was an expert at hair and makeup and loved to give her friends makeovers. The strength and grace she demonstrated during her illness endeared her to her caregivers and were a source of inspiration to all of us. She loved children and hoped to volunteer with young cancer patients.

She is survived by her parents, brother Jordan and his life partner, Forest Edwards of Columbus, Ohio; uncles Brian DeLong of Highland, NY; Robert (Kimberly) DeLong of Red Hook, NY; grandparents Joseph and Verda Bartos of Canton, OH; aunt Cheryl (Richard) Covate of Vancouver, WA; cousins Jeremy DeLong of Red Hook, NY; Lisa Fritsch of Portland, OR; Lori Silovich of Alliance, OH; her beloved fianc‚ Cody Wagner and his family, Andy and Beverly Wagner, children Ashley, Clint and Kade of Riverton. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Eugene and Ruby DeLong of Poughkeepsie, NY; and cousin, Tony Covate.

Special thanks go to Dr. Patricia Legant and her office staff, and Dr. Stephen Lordon. There are no words to express our appreciation for the staff at Cottonwood Hospital and especially the fifth floor nursing staff who became more than caregivers to the entire family.

A celebration of Ashley's life will be held on Saturday, March 4 at 1:00 p.m. in the Granite Stake Center, 2535 E. Newcastle Drive, Sandy. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, March 6 at 10:00 a.m., St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 3015 E. Creek Road, Sandy. Please don't wear mourning - Ashley loved bright colors and would want you to share happy memories of her. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Primary Children's Hospital or the Make-A-Wish foundation.
