Last Call for Baby Photos

We're still looking for pictures of your children to use in a reunion activity. Please email them to us at brightonhigh01(at)gmail(d0t) com. Can't wait for next Saturday!

Bengal Bio: Colin Kent

I went on an LDS mission to Philadelphia less than one month after high school graduation. Upon returning from my mission in 2003 I moved to Provo and enrolled at BYU. I went to BYU-Hawaii for one semester at the end of my freshman year and really enjoyed my brief time "studying" there. I got a real estate license at the end of my sophomore year and began working in residential real estate while finishing school. I graduated from BYU in 2006 and worked for Garbett Homes for about a year after graduating.

I met Jamie Haslam a year after starting school at BYU (she was attending the University of Utah at the time). We got married in August of 2005. We have two beautiful daughters: Presley (3 and 1/2) and Maybelle (15 months). I'm completely outnumbered by the girls in our home.

We lived in Utah until 2008 and moved to San Diego where I decided to start a medical supply company. I quickly realized I didn't want to spend a career in the medical industry so I sold my interest to my business partner shortly after we became profitable. I then decided to jump into the high tech industry in Silicon Valley. We now live in the San Francisco Bay Area and I work for a large software company called Oracle. I'm halfway through an Executive MBA program at Pepperdine University and that takes up a lot of my weekends these days. As a part of my school program I'm going to China and Thailand in September. It will be my first time in Asia and I'm excited to see that side of the world.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion and reconnecting with people I haven't seen in 10 years...still can't believe it's been that long.

Bengal Bio: Jennie Swensen

After high school, Jennie attended Utah State University, where she studied interior design. After 2 years there, she served a mission in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Upon returning, she finished her undergraduate studies at the University of Utah and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2008.

A couple years before graduating, she weighed her career options and decided to pursue a degree in medical illustration. She decided to attend UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. She will complete her Masters degree in Biomedical Communications (Medical Illustration) next month. She is currently working on her thesis and looking for a job. She has a professional website at jenswenstudios.com.

Since high school, Jennie has enjoyed traveling with her parents and brother to Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Western Europe, the Caribbean, and Japan. She hopes to someday travel to Eastern Europe and Asia.

Jennie has great high school memories. Some of her favorites include attending football games, ditching her dates at dances to dance with her girl friends, Ms. McClure’s AP Art class, Ms. Lee’s Humanities class, and Ms. Payne’s cartwheels. She is still close friends with Ms. Payne (now MRS. Navarro)!

Bengal Bio: Jeni Bryner Walton

After high school, I went to college at the University of Utah and began working for a company called Mediconnect. I graduated with a degree in Exercise and Sport Science, minoring in Nutrition in May of 2005. I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis my senior year and suffered with it for 4 years. After many failed attempts with medications and procedures, I ultimately decided to have my large intestine removed in December of 2002. Although I still have daily struggles, I don’t let it get in the way of life.

I married my best friend, Ryan Walton on June 20, 2003. We met while working together at Mediconnect. Together we have 3 busy, energetic, wonderful, boys: Connor (Just turned 6), Levi (3 1/2), and Parker (15 months). I am blessed with the opportunity to be a stay at home mom and love every minute of it-well almost! They keep me busy with all their activities and I love that I have officially become a “SOCCER MOM”, among many other titles. Ryan is working at ADP as the Manager of Clients Services in the Salt Lake offices. We are currently living in Sandy and love being close to both of our families. We like to travel, ride bikes, frequent visits to the cabin and St. George, as well as take our Cobra Mustang to car shows! We are happy just spending time together as a family.

Some of my favorite memories from high school have to come from soccer! Everything from the camp outs and hikes to painting the big rock to Homecoming Royalty (nominated by the soccer team) to winning State as a freshman. Preseason conditioning, however, is NOT a fond memory!

Bengal Bio: Nikki Gard Walters

After graduation, I went to an airline academy. Unfortunately, I arrived in Daytona Beach for hands on training on September 10, 2001. Needless to say, after the next morning, September 11, my life took a turn. Fortunately for me, my parents were in the process of relocating to Dallas, TX and I joined them on their venture.

I have been in the Dallas metroplex since Oct. 2001. I have been married to my husband, Maurice, for 6 years and have three beautiful children. Donavan 7, Dejah 5 and Dominique 15 months. I am a Vice President at CitiMortgage and love my job! In our free time, my husband and I coach 5/6 girls softball, I coach 5/6 cheer, and my hubby also coaches 7/8 football. If that is not enough we somehow manage to make time to swim in our pool with the kids. :)

My favorite memory of high school would have to be seeing the V.P.'s faces as they flew out the door to yell at us for swimming in the back of our trucks at lunch :) *T.Poulson, I am sure you remember this one as well!! LMAO!* I want to say hi to those from my past that have lost contact over the years, unfortunately I am unable to attend the reunion, but know that I am there in spirit! Brighton Bengals 'Till The End!!

There's still time...

...to get in your slide show pictures!

Let's laugh and share some memories!

High School Sweethearts: Amanda Ellis and Mike Francis

After graduating from BHS, Amanda received her Bachelors of Science in Math/Statistics from the University of Utah, a Masters of Science in Math from BYU, and is currently working on her PhD in Math from BYU.

She married fellow Brighton '01 Alum Mike Francis in 2008. They moved to Virginia (days after getting married) for 2 years while Mike completed graduate school, and they just moved back to Utah! They have a 10 month old little boy named Dexter.

Amanda teaches math and goes to school. She loves teaching math and feels like being a graduate student is the best job in the world. She pretty much gets paid to study/work on/think about some of the most elegant and interesting stuff ever imagined.

They now live in Sandy. Amanda enjoys reading, running and playing with her two boys. She also likes to make crafts and knit.

After graduation I moved south to beautiful St. George to attend Dixie State College. I graduated from Dixie in 2005 with my Bachelor degree in Business Administration. During my senior year, I began an internship with SkyWest Airlines. After graduation my internship ended up leading to a full time job where I currently am an Employee Relations Manager.

In 2007 I was married to my husband Trent Chapman. Trent currently works at Wolf Creek Golf Club as a golf professional. We both enjoy road biking and I have started to test the waters a bit with running and even completed a triathlon last November.

BHS days were definitely full of many laughs and memories. Some of my favorites are Girls' Tennis Team, catching air on the "Brighton Bump", and becoming addicted to Cafe Rio.

Hey Bengals....only 7 more days until the price of the Reunion dinner goes from $36 to $46! Pay now and get ready for a great night!

Bengal Bio: Courtnie Cannon Hopkin

Since a few of you aren’t sending in your Bengal Bios, I’ve decided to do them for you! Maybe this will be motivation to get yours in on your own terms. ;)

After graduating from Brighton High School, Courtnie attended Brigham Young University. She quickly met her future husband, Brad Hopkin and they were married in 2003. They moved to Sugarhouse and bought their dog Annie, a miniature greyhound.

After living in Sugarhouse for a couple of years, they moved south to St. George where Courtnie attended Dixie State’s Dental Hygiene program. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2007 as the Academician. She and Brad celebrated by taking a twelve-day trip across Europe as well as visiting Brad’s mission in France.

They have since moved back up North and are living in Sandy, Utah. They welcomed their little girl, Myka Elizabeth, in July 2008. Courtnie works two days a week as a dental hygienist and loves what she does.

In her free time, Courtnie enjoys Zumba, playing with her little girl, visiting her friend in SoCal, and remodeling their older home.

Bengal Bio: Levi Thatcher

Since you've seen him last, Levi finished at Brighton without honors and then moved to a small, insignificant Central American country. After traipsing about Honduras trying to get people to love each other, he returned to the United States and took up residence in his parents basement. Growing up he wanted to be a weatherman. Starting at the University of Utah fresh off the mission, he found that on-air banter is lame, and that physics and math rock. He continues to think this and is still at the U, pursuing a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences which will be completed sometime between now and the time he's senile. He's also traveled a bit and sometimes wishes he were Japanese. While he has no children and is not married, Levi is actively interviewing candidates for the role of wife and one day hopes to make a selection. For fresh news on Levi, add him on facebook or check out his blog, www.deferredconsumption.com.

Bengal Bio: Lesley Hallmark Colvin

After graduation, Lesley Hallmark attended BYU to study international relations and politics with the intent to go to law school. After an internship in NYC in 2003, Lesley decided to take every opportunity to travel while earning college credit, so she decided to attend a political science study abroad in London. She met her husband, Kyle Colvin, the first day there, and the rest is history. After a semester of exploring London and traveling all over Europe, Kyle and Lesley were married in September of 2004. Lesley switched her major to Art History and Curatorial Studies, and completed an internship at the Smithsonian business office in Washington DC.

After graduation in 2006, Lesley and Kyle attended the University of Oxford in England. Lesley received an MSc in Historic Conservation, and Kyle received an MSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice. They soon found out that they were expecting their first child, and after a move back to the states so that Kyle could attend BYU Law School, their daughter Ella Kensington was born in January of 2009. Soon after Ella joined their family, Lesley discovered a love for photography that later turned into a part-time job as a portrait and wedding photographer. You can see her work at kensingtonblue.com, and her blog http://www.kensingtonblue.blogspot.com. Lesley and her family thoroughly enjoyed their three years in Utah while Kyle was in law school, as they were close to family and good friends. During the summer breaks, as a 1L Kyle completed an internship for the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Santa Fe, NM, and as a 2L, Kyle and his family spent the next summer in London and New York City working for a British-based, global firm called Linklaters. At the beginning of Kyle's third year, he received a job offer to start in Linklaters' New York City office.

Following graduation, Kyle studied for the NY bar exam while Lesley took care of Ella, and prepared for the big move and the birth of their second child. Their son was due on July 28, 2010, the exact day Kyle was supposed to be in New York taking the bar exam. They crossed their fingers as Lesley neared her due date and Kyle had to fly to New York. Luck was not on their side, however, and Lesley went into labor during her baby shower on the evening of the 27th. After every effort to stall labor, she finally went to the hospital (dilated to a 7 when she arrived), and their son, Jones William, was born that morning. Fortunately, Lesley's mom and sisters were there for her during the labor and birth since Kyle was so far away.

When Jones was 6 weeks old, Lesley and her family moved to New York City. Kyle works midtown for Linklaters as a corporate M&A attorney, and Lesley continues her work as a portrait and wedding photographer. They absolutely love living in NYC, and currently reside on the Upper West Side. Life is incredibly different for them with no car, Kyle's crazy hours, and being so far away from family, but they have made wonderful friends and are truly enjoying everything this city has to offer.

Bengal Bio: Sarah Clements Dolezal

The last 10 years have been a crazy whirlwind of events, and it seems hard to believe so much time has passed. I didn't spend my senior year at Brighton, as I moved with my family to Tulsa, Oklahoma. I did, however, attend Homecoming at Brighton, Senior Dinner Dance, Yearbook signing day, and the graduation party. I will always be a Bengal at heart and would feel odd going to any other reunion but this one, with the kids I grew up knowing since elementary, middle school, and high school.

I am married to my high school sweetheart Matthew whom I met my senior year in Tulsa. We were married in 2002 and moved to Salt Lake City where I worked for Intel as a Sales rep and Dialogic Team lead until the day before I had my first baby. We have three beautiful little girls, ages 8, 6, and 2. My husband joined the United states Army in Utah and after 5 months away for basic and AIT, we were stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii for four years (also where our youngest daughter was born). My husband has been to Iraq for a 15 month tour of duty, a 12 month tour, and is currently in Afghanistan for his third tour of duty, this time with the 101st Airborne Division. We were living in Clarksville, TN but since Matt's deployment to Afghanistan, are currently residing in Rexburg, Idaho until his return in May (where he will attend school.)

I am the Home Executive in the Dolezal household and take care of the three little ones while their daddy is away training, working, and fighting for our freedom. I attended classes at a University of Hawaii campus and eventually, my dream is to get my degree in English Lit and become a high school English teacher. Once I am no longer a psuedo-single mom, this will be a lot easier to accomplish.

High School Sweethearts: Haylee Jones and CJ Wilkinson

After graduation, Haylee attended BYU and graduated with a degree in Business Marketing. CJ attended a semester at Salt Lake Community College before serving a mission in Seattle, Washington. After his mission he attended a semester at Utah State University but decided he couldn’t be that far away from his girlfriend, so he moved back to Salt Lake and Haylee and CJ were married in September 2005.

CJ got a job as a mortgage loan officer and has been doing that for over six years now. Haylee worked for two years as a real estate assistant after college but became a stay-at-home mom when their first son Max was born in May 2007. Max is now four, and they also have a one-year-old son, Collin. They live in Murray, Utah and are grateful to be able to keep in touch with some of their good friends from high school.

Some of their favorite memories from Brighton are Junior MORP (their first date), eating lunch on the front lawn of the school, Foods class, and Mr. Hodges class.

Bengal Bio: Brittany Harris Ryder

After graduating high school, I attended the University of Utah as a pre-med student. A year into schooling, I decided to switch my major, and received a degree in Elementary Education in 2007. I married Scott Ryder in September 2001, just 3 days after the tragedy of 9-11. We decided to wait on beginning a family and welcomed our amazing son Augustus "Gus" in June 2007. He is such a sweet, mellow boy and loads of fun to watch learn and grow. In April 2009, we welcomed our beautiful daughter Elizabeth "Betta". She is the complete opposite of her brother and is so full of life.

After receiving my degree, I began teaching 1st grade in Farmington. I taught 1st grade for 2 years, then made the transition to 4th grade. Last year, I recieved my Master of Arts in Teaching degree from National University. I love my job and am so thrilled to begin my 3rd year of teaching 4th graders in the fall.

Last year, I found a new passion in my life: belly dancing. I know, crazy! I began this "hobby" as a way to help lose the baby fat and was hooked. I now dance in two performing troupes "Amaya" and "Amani" with Desert Journey School of Dance, and teach belly dancing through Granite Peaks Community Classes and Desert Journey School of Dance.

This year has been a year of trials and changes. My husband has suffered from epilepsy for 15 years, and has had many problems/limitations due to his disease. The anti-seizure medications were not working the way they should have, so we made the hard and necessary decision for Scott to undergo surgery to remove the portion of his brain that produced the seizures. On October 5, 2010, Scott had a partial left temperal lobectomy. Scott has now been seizure free for 8 months, and has a new lease on life.

I've loved reading through all of the biographies, and am very excited to catch up with everyone!

Bengal Bio: Amanda Grant Israelsen

After I graduated From BHS, I moved to St.George with my good friend and had a blast. I just worked and played for about 8 months, until I decided to move back home. A few years later I had two jobs. One at Goodwood BBQ and the other as a nanny to two little boys. I've been doing it for about 21/2 years now and loving it. I met my husband, James, while Country Dancing and a year later we where married. We've been married for 31/2 years. James is a co-owner of a landscaping company and he loves what he does.

We still go country swing dancing. That is one of our passions and we love to do it together. I went to SLCC and took photography classes. I'm still working on finishing college, graduating in Photography, and have been busy doing photography on the side.

We have a Rottweiler/German Shepherd mix named Harlie. We enjoy backpacking, and doing anything outdoors to keep the adventure going. That sums it up.

Bengal Bio: Tracy Bolander Green

After graduating from Brighton, Tracy attended Southern Utah University on a dance scholarship. She was there until 2003 when she married her husband, Gavin, and transferred to the University of Utah. She graduated with a degree in psychology in 2006.

While her husband worked on his masters degree at the U, Tracy worked as a project coordinator for a national research study on the genetic linkage of Tourette’s Syndrome.

When her husband graduated in 2008, they moved to Washington DC where Tracy attended Marymount University and received her masters degree in forensic psychology in 2010.

In the fall of 2010, Tracy’s husband was transferred to England for four months, where they spent every moment he wasn’t working traveling all over the UK and Europe. They recently bought a home in the DC area and love living there with their two cats.

Tracy’s favorite memories from high school are all the time she spent hanging out with her friends, performing at the football games, and going to the dances.

Bengal Bio: Mike Roylance

Since graduating from BHS, Mike continued his education at the University of Utah graduating in Computer Science and Japanese in 2009. He is currently single (but looking!) and works as a software engineer at New Dawn Technologies. His post recent project was to write and expand on a custom programming language compiler that is embedded into rich text format documents that his customers can use. He loves it!

He currently lives in Logan, Utah and spends most of his time writing a custom soap c library to be used for objective applications. We'll have to have him explain it to us at the reunion! He is also training for an upcoming Ragnar, and has turned into a self-proclaimed health nut.

One of the most significant/memorable things he's done since graduating in 2001 was moving to Japan for most of 2005-2006 as an intern through JETRO (Japanese External Trade Organization). He worked for a subsidiary of Fujitsu, programming an IE6 spinoff browser in C++. It was all in Japanese and a lot of fun.

His favorite memories at Brighton were working on Bengal vision, as well as attending the football games.

Bengal Bio: Jennifer Canova

After her days at Brighton, Jennifer attended the University of Utah to study Psychology and Business. During college, she worked for a local commercial real estate firm and got her real estate license to do sales. She stayed busy with work, school and friends from Kappa Kappa Gamma. She also fulfilled her dream to study abroad in France, as well as a personal goal to buy her own first home in Utah.

After college, Jennifer moved to Washington (a few years after her immediate family relocated to the beautiful Northwest). She has now lived there for four years and loves the green landscape and waterfront. After deciding she wanted to continue to use her sales background, but also do something creative that she would love -- it made sense for her to get her cosmetology license. She now enjoys working for herself at a high-end Bellevue, WA salon. She loves her job and her clients. Her fiance, Danny and her plan to get married next Spring in Seattle and just bought a beautiful house together. Whenever the sun is out, Jennifer enjoys to go to the waterfront with her sister's (Jessica Canova Colby) two kids. Jennifer also loves to travel and tries to visit Utah often to catch up with old friends.

Bengal Bio: Ben Bagley

After graduating from BHS in 2001, I attended the University of Utah and graduated in 2006 with a degree in Mass Communication. During that time, I worked for my dad’s company, helping to market and develop his website www.schoolsoup.com.

2009 was a big year for me. First, I decided to start a new career in the insurance business at Cottonwood Insurance. Around the same time, I met my wife Rachel at a local singles ward; we were married on October 24th, 2009. On February 12, 2011, we were blessed with our first child, Jackson Allen Bagley. He is a healthy baby boy and we are loving every minute with him!

Rachel, Jackson and I are currently living at my parent’s house so we can save money as I grow my insurance business. I have spent two years helping people get good rates on their home, auto, business, and term life insurance. I enjoy what I’m doing, and couldn’t be happier with my wife and baby!

I still love to spend time with my old friends from BHS. It was such a great school, the best class ever, and I have great memories of my time there.

Bengal Bio: Carrie Rosevear Woolley

After graduating from high school, Carrie went to BYU, rooming with Courtnie Cannon, Amber Garrett, Lindsay Sansom, and Molly Wadsworth. Carrie was a violin performance major, traveling to Europe twice and all over the US with the BYU chamber orchestra. She also played fiddle in a few country bands (under the stage name “Bergita McGrath”). After completing her Performance degree, she went on to receive her Music Education degree so she could teach music in the public schools. While pursuing this degree, she met her husband, Russell Woolley.

They got married in June 2006, and shortly thereafter Carrie became the orchestra director at a Junior High in Orem. She taught there until Russ graduated from UVU and was accepted to the University of Michigan’s Masters in Health Services Administration and MBA dual degree program. They spent two years living in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and loved every minute of it. Carrie continued to teach music in the Ann Arbor school system and private violin lessons from home. Russell was then accepted to a post-graduate administrative residency at Poudre Valley Health System in Fort Collins, Colorado, just as they found out they were expecting their first baby boy.

Monroe Russell Woolley was born last July in Ann Arbor, and then moved across the country to Colorado when he was only 4 weeks old. Carrie is now a stay-at-home mom who teaches violin lessons from home in the evenings. Russ has just accepted a job as the Director of Knowledge and Health Information Management at the same hospital in Ft. Collins. Carrie, Russ, and “Roe” love to be outdoors- biking, running, boating, skiing, playing tennis, or hiking, and are loving life in Ft. Collins!

Carrie’s favorite memories from high school are the millions of sleepovers, “decorating” the boys’ cars, dancing at football and basketball half-times, skits in Ms. Lees’ class, drill team Nationals in Florida, toilet papering, barricading, sleeping through Mr. Rockne’s class, John Dong dancing to the Backstreet Boys, running around the football field in our underwear at 2 am and then being spotlighted by the police, and just living a completely care-free high school life. I laugh so hard when I remember the crazy things we did! Carrie’s least favorite high school memory is when the boys had a milk chugging contest in her circle and there were piles of milky barf there for weeks!

Bengal Bio: David Cluff

After graduating from Brighton, David went to SLCC for about a year completing some of his generals. He was married in August 2004 to Sarah Dietz and has two kids Joseph who is 4, and Anna who will be 2 in July. In 2009, things where not going so well in David's marriage and his life was forever changed with a divorce.

He is currently working at West Ridge Academy as an Assistant Program Director. While looking for help for his troubled sister-in-law, he saw they were looking for part-time workers and he applied. He started out at the bottom and has worked his hardest to get up to the top and has been there the past 4 years. West Ridge is a program for troubled youth from ages 9-18. He loves working with the troubled teens at the Academy as well the staff.

David currently lives in West Jordan. In his spare time he loves spending time with his two adorable children. They are the best things in his life and mean everything to him. He also took a trip to Denmark just for fun.

His favorite memory from BHS would have to be going on tour with the a-cappella class and hanging out with friends in the halls.
